Workshop: Embedded Systems Design with Applications in Mobile Robotics

W. M. Roshan Weerasuriya and J.G. Varuna Priyanka

The aim of the workshop is to introduce the embedded systems development techniques, by presenting the specification techniques, design methodologies and more common development tools in the elaboration of embedded systems. The study of the PC as the platform for the development of an embedded systems project is outlined. The programming of embedded systems of small complexity is instructed, by using industrial software tools. The workshop will also introduce the concepts of Robotics systems with respect to development techniques, design methodologies and more common development tools in the collaboration of mobile robots. At the end of the workshop, a mobile robot will be made with the line following capability and will be demonstrated on site. The development platform is based on of industrial software tools such as MikroC and Arduino.

Intended audience: This workshop is for those who need to learn about Embedded Systems and Mobile Robotics. Prerequisites is some basic programming knowledge.

Expected number of participants: 10

Format of Workshop: Full Day

Location: UCSC, 3rd Floor ADMTC Lab
