ABSTRACT

This paper discusses the development of complex land surveying applications into a single user-friendly computer program called “SCAD2002” for the Sri Lankan land surveyors. By analyzing the current Land Surveying methodology in Sri Lanka, it has been observed the necessity of new user friendly software for digital mapping..

In the methodology section, it describes how the system work using Snapshots and how its components link together. However they only describe processing in outline and by their snapshot nature provide a static view of activities. This system has been developed according to “Life Cycle Coverage”. As this is totally a new system and lot of time has been spent on the strategic planning. The scope and complexity of the program can often be reduced effectively from those of the current system.

“ SCAD2002” can consider as a Bridge between raw data and digital maps because it is capable to provide the required tools in preparation of digital maps from raw data without loosing efficient storage of data and rejection of invalid entities.
